I have been an English instructor at Southeastern Louisiana University for nineteen years. In that time, I have taught literature and composition to all levels of Freshmen and sophomore students. I have also privately tutored middle school, junior high and high school students, adult ESL students, as well as tutored for the online services, Smarthinking.com. And Global. What I like most about tutoring is helping individual students improve their skills and their grades. I've helped students plan their homework schedule for the week, develop study skills, improve their writing, and learn to be better readers. In addition, I've tutored students who needed help improving their ACT scores and developing their college entry essays. Recently, I've tutored a young girl who has decided to major in English when leaving for college. She went from having difficulty comprehending what she was reading to being able to understand the text and critically write about it in her essays. Seeing her progress as well as other students' is why I enjoy tutoring.
